Beeswax protects lips and retains lip moisture. It has lubricating, softening activities and reduces trans-epidermal water loss from skin. This means it helps protect lips from becoming dry or chapped. Beeswax is also an occlusive, meaning it forms a moisturising, protective layer on the surface of the lips.
There's a good reason Shea Butter is included in so many face moisturisers and body lotions. It works as an emollient that softens and hydrates skin. Because it contains several types of fatty acid including lineoleic, oleic, palmitic and stearic acids that improve the skin's natural barrier, shea butter also protects skin from damage from the environment like pollutants.
It's anti-inflammatory properties soothe skin problems.
Shea Butter also contains quite a few antioxidants, including vitamins A and E, along with many of the same ones found in green tea, a known antioxidant powerhouse!
